Studio, play place, workshop, inspiration nexus, gathering place, learning center…all of these describe the evolving space located in the heart of our home in the heart of Yelm. The house itself is a large scale sculpture, displaying the handcrafted beauty of many local artists and artisans.  Right now, a tile and glass mosaic project covers the big studio table, but on some days fabric takes over, as a landscape quilt or other fun textile creation takes center stage.  Other days paint is the medium of choice…or paper, or stone, or wood, or fur and feathers!!!    More work areas are forming outdoors as needed for different messier projects we undertake.  Serenity Arts offers mini-workshops several times a year where folks come to learn and play with tile, or mosaic, or fabric, or maybe something we haven’t tried yet!

I’ve been a painter most of my life, doing large and small landscapes, portraits and abstracts as well, but I find myself making art with almost any medium these days.  From pottery to papier mache, textile to stone tile, big murals to little bird houses, I love to create, to build, to expand and express.  My delight is having several projects going at the same time in different mediums, so my body can move happily from one scene to the next and I very much enjoy sharing my experiences with others who are willing to explore their creative sides.
