I have been a painter most of my life, starting with landscapes when I was in high school, and only recently exploring portraiture. I was raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and studied art only as a hobby until I was a junior in college. At Florida International University I studied painting, as well as drawing, sculpture and pottery, and still practice all of these visual arts, although painting is my main focus. I moved to the Northwest in 1984 and attended Cornish College for the Arts in 1985 briefly before moving to Yelm to raise my family. Since moving to Yelm, I have been involved with both creating art and promoting it through various local galleries and Arts organizations. I also am a Artist In Residence in the Yelm Schools where I can share my love of art with young people.
